LEICESTER’S BIG WEEKEND

LEICESTER aim to continue their push for the play-offs with two big meetings this weekend.

Stewart Dickson’s side travel to Scunthorpe on Friday before heading back to the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena at Beaumont Park to face Glasgow in a rerun of the 2019 Grand Final on Saturday (7pm).

Aaron Summers has agreed to step in for Nick Morris at the Eddie Wright Raceway and top Poole star Steve Worrall is booked for the home meeting the following night.

Dickson is challenging his Watling JCB Lions to step up their performances in a bid to rubber stamp their place in the top six.

He said: “We’ve got a very good balance throughout this septet and even the younger lads in some of the more difficult positions are starting to come into their own.

“What we need to do now is step things up to the next level and prove to ourselves, before anyone else, that we deserve a shot at this year’s Championship title.”

Saturday’s meeting is shaping up to be one of the biggest of the season as Dickson faces his former club.

He admits Glasgow are a top team and are in a strong position to challenge for the league title.

“It should be some night and we’re expecting to welcome a few Glasgow fans,” he said. “They’re down at Poole on Friday so some supporters will be making a weekend of it I’m sure.

“We need our fans in fine voice getting right behind the boys.”

SCUNTHORPE: Adam Ellis, Jordan Palin R/R, Theo Pijper, Ben Barker, Thomas Jorgensen, Josh MacDonald, Simon Lambert.
